Now That’s Southern Hospitality!

Ever since I heard OutKast, Ludacris, and other various hip hop groups that helped me to understand the meaning of “Southern Hospitality” I knew hip hop was hear to stay. MC’s from the south, have a voice just like those who are from the midwest, all the way over towards the East Coast. The way the hip hop is nowadays, I thought it would never go back to what it once was. That was until I heard a southern rapper by the name of Big K.R.I.T. A couple of years ago, my good friend Enrrique and I were discussing hip hop and the state that it was in. We ended up on the subject of southern hip hop and discussing the likes of; The Goodie Mob, Dungeon Family, Ludacris and the whole DTP family and many others that contributed to the hip hop scene. I told him that, “I don’t think that there will anymore good rappers to come out of the south.” That is when he told me about Big K.R.I.T. The first time I heard him, I knew he was here to stay. I followed this particular MC mixtape after mixtape. Just recently, I caught him performing on Jimmy Fallon with his hit single, I Got This. Big K.R.I.T. has resurrected southern hip hop and it really is here to stay. With every song he composes, from lyric to lyric, he is able to tell a story so well to the point where you feel you are in his shoes, or have been. He encapsulates the beauty, as well as the trials of the streets. With his new album already out titled Live From The Underground, he has turned more heads than ever before. There is a new voice amongst the hip hop scene and he will forever be known as Big K.R.I.T.
